How to add an app development agency to your Lovable project
Connect your Lovable project to GitHub, then add @the-app-agency as a collaborator on the repository Lovable creates. If you’d rather not use GitHub, share the one project with aios@theappagency.com.
GitHub is the route we recommend: it works on every Lovable plan, syncs both ways, and gives us the code.

Before you start
Only workspace or project owners and admins can connect a project to GitHub.
Lovable always creates a new repository. It can’t connect to one you already have. To bring existing code into Lovable, use Upload code.
On some plans, an invite can use one of your seats, and anyone who sends prompts in your project can use your credits. We don’t send prompts, so we won’t use your credits. Check your plan’s seat rules before you invite us.
Connect GitHub and add us
Open the project, then go to Project settings → Git → GitHub and click Add connection. You can also start from Workspace settings → Git.

Click Add account. On an Enterprise plan, pick github.com first.
In the GitHub window, choose your account or organization, then All repositories or Only select repositories, and click Install & Authorize.

Back in Project settings → Git → GitHub, click Connect next to the connection you just made. Lovable creates a new private repository and starts syncing.

On GitHub, open the new repository and go to Settings, then Collaborators (under Access in the sidebar), and click Add people.

Type the-app-agency, pick it, and confirm with Add the-app-agency to your repository. GitHub emails us the invitation, and we accept it.

If the repository belongs to a GitHub organization rather than your personal account, access works differently. Email hey@theappagency.com and we’ll walk you through it.
Or share the project by email
This gives us the project inside Lovable instead of on GitHub.
Pick the lowest role that lets us see the code. If your plan offers Viewer or Read-only, choose that. If it doesn’t, choose Editor. We won’t change anything. Never make us a workspace owner or admin.
On Business and Enterprise plans, your admin decides what outside collaborators can do, under Workspace settings → Privacy & security → External project collaborators, and workspace rules can stop a member inviting someone from outside. If the invite won’t send, ask your admin to send it.
In the project, click Share in the top bar, then Invite people.

Under Add people, enter aios@theappagency.com, set the access level (see the role note above), and click Invite.

We see the project under Shared with me and can start once you tell us what you need.
If your platform or plan only lets you add us to a whole workspace, or blocks outside invites, connect the project to GitHub instead. If you do add us to a workspace, we open only the project you name, and when your audit is done, we leave the workspace where your platform lets us.
Good to know
One branch syncs at a time.
The sync runs both ways: what we push to GitHub appears in your Lovable project. If a push would replace work done in Lovable, Lovable asks you to choose Restore Lovable work or Keep repository version.
GitHub access gives us the code, not your Lovable project. That is enough for us to read, fix and build.
Older guides show GitHub under “Integrations”. Lovable renamed that page Connectors in December 2025, and GitHub isn’t there: it’s under Settings → Git.
Removing our access
When your audit is done, we remove ourselves where your platform lets us. You can remove us any time, too.
GitHub: in the repository’s Settings → Collaborators, remove the-app-agency. Lovable’s connection to the repository stays as it is.
Lovable: open Share on the project and remove aios@theappagency.com.
Questions people ask
Can you export Lovable code to GitHub?
Yes. Go to Project settings, then Git, then GitHub, and connect the project. Lovable creates a private repository and keeps it in two-way sync. GitHub.com sync is available on every plan.
Can I download my Lovable code without GitHub?
On paid plans, yes. Use Download codebase in Project settings under Git, or Download codebase under the code editor’s file tree. You get a ZIP of the project.
Can I connect Lovable to a GitHub repository I already have?
No. Lovable always creates a new repository when you connect. To bring existing code into Lovable, use Upload code.
Does the agency need a Lovable seat?
On some plans, an invite can use one of your seats. Check your plan’s seat rules before you invite us.
