How to add an app development agency to your Bolt project
Connect your Bolt project to GitHub from the GitHub icon at the top right, then add @the-app-agency as a collaborator on the new repository. Without GitHub, click Share and invite aios@theappagency.com.
Read Before you start first: when Bolt and GitHub disagree, Bolt keeps its own version and overwrites GitHub, and disconnecting a project from GitHub is permanent.

Before you start
Can’t be undone
Bolt overwrites GitHub on conflict. Bolt commits on its own and checks GitHub about every 30 seconds. If both sides changed, Bolt keeps its version and overwrites what’s on GitHub, which can wipe out our commits. Agree with us who works where, and pause prompting in Bolt while we work in the repository.
Disconnecting is permanent. After Disconnect project, reconnecting to the same repository needs Bolt support. To stop working with us, remove us on GitHub instead (below) and leave the connection alone.
You’ll need
You need your own individual GitHub account to connect.
Only the project owner can connect or manage GitHub. Collaborators don’t see the GitHub icon.
On some plans, an invite can use one of your seats, and anyone who sends prompts in your project can use your credits. We don’t send prompts, so we won’t use your credits. Check your plan’s seat rules before you invite us.
Connect GitHub and add us
Open the project and click the GitHub icon at the top right. Click Log in to GitHub, then Authorize. The authorization is in StackBlitz’s name: StackBlitz makes Bolt.

Click Install the GitHub App, choose All repositories or Only select repositories, and click Install & Authorize.
Click the GitHub icon again, then Create a repository. Name it, click Create repository, then Start building. Bolt creates a private repository on the main branch.

On GitHub, open the new repository and go to Settings, then Collaborators (under Access in the sidebar), and click Add people.

Type the-app-agency, pick it, and confirm with Add the-app-agency to your repository. GitHub emails us the invitation, and we accept it.

If the repository belongs to a GitHub organization rather than your personal account, access works differently. Email hey@theappagency.com and we’ll walk you through it.
Or share the project by email
This gives us the project inside Bolt. Sharing is on every plan.
Pick the lowest role that lets us see the code. If your plan offers Viewer or Read-only, choose that. If it doesn’t, choose Editor. We won’t change anything. Never make us a workspace owner or admin.
On a Team plan, an admin has to turn on External collaboration in team projects first. It’s off by default, and without it the invite fails with “Due to team settings only members can be invited to collaborate”.
Open the project and click Share at the upper right.

Enter aios@theappagency.com, set Invite as (see the role note above), and click Send invite. The invite shows as Pending until we accept it.

An Editor can prompt, edit and publish, and can see the project’s environment variables.
If your platform or plan only lets you add us to a whole workspace, or blocks outside invites, connect the project to GitHub instead. If you do add us to a workspace, we open only the project you name, and when your audit is done, we leave the workspace where your platform lets us.
Good to know
Transferring the project to someone else removes the GitHub connection.
Some third-party guides put GitHub in Bolt’s settings. Bolt’s own help puts it behind the GitHub icon at the top right.
Removing our access
When your audit is done, we remove ourselves where your platform lets us. You can remove us any time, too.
GitHub: in the repository’s Settings → Collaborators, remove the-app-agency. Don’t disconnect the project in Bolt to do this: that can’t be undone.
Bolt: open Share on the project and remove aios@theappagency.com.
Questions people ask
Does Bolt sync with GitHub both ways?
Yes. Bolt commits automatically and checks GitHub about every 30 seconds. When both sides changed, Bolt keeps its own version and overwrites GitHub.
Can I download my Bolt project as a ZIP?
Yes. Click the project title at the top left, then Export, then Download.
Can I reconnect a Bolt project to GitHub after disconnecting it?
Not on your own. Disconnecting is permanent, and reconnecting to the same repository needs Bolt support.
Will the agency use my Bolt tokens?
We don’t send prompts, so we won’t use your tokens. Before you start has the detail.
