How to add an app development agency to your Google AI Studio app
In Google AI Studio’s Build mode, open your app’s settings, go to the GitHub tab, and create a new repository from the app. Then add @the-app-agency as a collaborator on GitHub.
Google itself points teams to a shared GitHub repository, because AI Studio has no real-time co-editing. If your app is still in Firebase Studio, move it to AI Studio first.

Already have a repository for the app? The same GitHub tab can link the app to an existing one instead.
If the repository belongs to a GitHub organization rather than your personal account, access works differently. Email hey@theappagency.com and we’ll walk you through it.
Coming from Firebase Studio
Firebase Studio closed to new workspaces on June 22, 2026, and shuts down on March 22, 2027, when its data is deleted. Google’s destinations for its projects are Google AI Studio and Antigravity.
In Firebase Studio, click Move now, then Prepare for AI Studio, then Move to Google AI Studio.

Once the app is in AI Studio, follow the GitHub steps above.
Why not share the app?
AI Studio apps are private by default. You can share an app with edit permission so someone else can change its code, but there’s no real-time co-editing, and the API calls a shared app makes count toward your limits. Google’s own advice is to collaborate through a shared GitHub repository instead.
Good to know
The sync runs both ways: what we commit to the repository comes back into your app.
Guides written for Firebase Studio are out of date. It no longer takes new workspaces.
Removing our access
When your audit is done, we remove ourselves where your platform lets us. You can remove us any time, too.
GitHub: in the repository’s Settings → Collaborators, remove the-app-agency. Your app stays linked to the repository.
Questions people ask
Can Google AI Studio sync with GitHub?
Yes. In Build mode, an app’s settings have a GitHub tab where you can create a new repository from the app or link one you already have. The sync runs both ways.
Is Firebase Studio shutting down?
Yes. It closed to new workspaces on June 22, 2026, and shuts down on March 22, 2027, when its data is deleted. Google points its users to Google AI Studio or Antigravity.
Can someone else edit my Google AI Studio app?
You can share an app with edit permission, but there’s no real-time co-editing, so Google suggests collaborating through a shared GitHub repository.
